This made far more sense the Apple Watch should be a largely passive device, where the user is.

If you see a photo that makes you smile, you can 'like' it, or you can send an emoji as a comment. With Glances gone, Apple decided to place more focus on notifications and watch-face complications. Set up and organize your Dock to use either Recents or Favorites on iPhone by showing: Open Watch app, tap My Watch, tap Dock (Image credit: iMore) Tap Favorites under the Dock Ordering section. You can also see truncated versions of other people's profiles. Tap on the My Watch tab if you dont already have it open. It allows you to view photos in your stream, see comments, and find out what others have been saying about your photos. In the Watch app on my phone, in Glances Settings, I've turned on what I want to see and adjusted the order. On the Apple Watch, Glances can be accessed by swiping up on the screen when you’re viewing the watch face and you can control which Glances appear or not. Now that I kind of understand what I'm doing on the watch now, I'd like to re-enable some glances and disable others.

Nevertheless, the app has plenty going for it, particularly if you're a regular user of the platform. I got my watch the other day, and I disabled most of the glances. Like other Watch apps, it's limited in the functions it can access – you can't, for example, use Instagram to control your iPhone's camera the way you can with the Camera Remote app. Keep in mind that the order of your glances will determine their order in the glances interface. From there, the iPhone app provides actionable notifications, informational glances, and interactive remote views to your Apple Watch over the paired connection or shared Wi-Fi network.

Step 4: Use the drag handles or the ‘+’ or ‘-‘ signs to add or remove items from glances. With the Apple Watch, all third-party app functionality is actually contained in the iPhone app you download and install onto your iPhone.

It's the social aspect that the Apple Watch app concentrates on. Step 1: Open the Apple Watch companion app on iPhone.
